Mario has now joined your party! Yoshi promptly puts FLUDD on his back, and the "true" tutorial now plays out.Īt the beach on the East Side, right in front of the lighthouse, spray the sand to reveal a picture of a Shine Sprite, which will convert into a real one. Thinking it might have merit, the cops decide to let Mario go pending a re-trial. The cops finally show up, and Yoshi lays out his case. You can eat the Piantas, as well as hit them with eggs for combos. Multiple Piantas attempt to engage in a "citizen's arrest" against you, and a minigame now plays out in which you must protect Mario for 60 seconds while Piantas come at him from all sides. This does not go unnoticed by nearby Piantas, who immediately alert the cops. Now head to the southeast corner, where Mario is being held, and throw your eggs at the prison bars to bust him out. Get close enough to the sludge that little creatures known as Swoopin' Stus pop out, eat at least three, and turn them into eggs. Now that you're in the Plaza, head to the South Side, where a statue of a Pianta has apparently drowned in a sea of brown sludge much like what you saw at the Airstrip. The judge flippantly dismisses both of them, apparently thinking Yoshi was inquiring about visitation hours at the jail somehow, and sends him off to Delfino Plaza. Yoshi, however, turns on the Pianta and attacks!Ī short cutscene then plays out at the courthouse where a member of the island's other primary race, the "Noki"s (small human/seashell hybrids), brings Yoshi before the judge, the Noki essentially acting as Yoshi's lawyer and laying out the case, asking for a re-trial. One of the Piantas who was near the sludge spill will congratulate Yoshi on cleaning up the Airstrip and recovering a Shine Sprite. It dissolves away, raises the airstrip back up so that it's level, and turns into one of those Shine Sprites you heard about earlier. When this Piranha Plant opens its mouth, spray more water into it three times to kill it. Either way, go to the sludge in the center of the airstrip and spray its apparent source to reveal a Piranha Plant. As in the original game, the tutorial on how to use FLUDD is done here however, it's instead adjusted to Yoshi and his unique skills. ![]() only to realize that he wasn't intended for you.įLUDD then asks you to take him to Mario. As in the original game, he prepares to scan and classify your "data". Go to the other side of the Airstrip to meet a talking pump named FLUDD, allegedly from Gadd Science, Inc. What the cops didn't count on, though, is a surprise witness: the plane's near miss jarred awake a Yoshi who you can now control. The perpetrator only questionably looks like Mario, but Mario is given no chance to defend himself.the sole objection, from Peach, is overruled. Without the Shine Sprites, the island's capital, Delfino Plaza, has fallen into darkness. He is apparently accused of running rampant all over Isle Delfino and spewing more of that sludge-like paint all over the island, which has apparently scared off the island's guardians, the "Shine Sprites". Even worse, two cops of the "Pianta" race, really fat triangle-like people with little palm trees on their heads, slap Mario in cuffs and promptly take him away. However, they get jarred out of their seats by "icky paint-like goop" on the runway, which has sunk part of it. The game starts out as before, with Mario, Peach, Toadsworth, and the Toad Brigade preparing to land. 1.32 Blue Coin Blitz (worth up to 30 Shine Sprites)īehold, it's literally the first Shine Sprite you could ever possibly get in the game. ![]() 1.16 Luigi Defunds the Police by Doing Close to Absolutely Nothing.1.14 The Fastest Thing Alive (in Water).Only Wario can get this Shine, or Wario is best at getting it Only Luigi can get this Shine, or Luigi is best at getting it Only Mario can get this Shine, or Mario is best at getting it Only Yoshi can get this Shine, or Yoshi is best at getting it Ground Pound manhole covers scattered throughout the level to explore a vast network of sewers that can get you to some places faster.
